Our Wedding

Our "Invisible String Theory" began with a simple match on a dating app. After following each other on Instagram for over a year, we stayed quietly connected. Then one day, Tyler slid into Mikayla’s DMs and they began planning their first date. Our first date was at a local BBQ joint, full of laughter, great food, and that unmistakable spark. We weren’t ready to say goodbye just yet, so we continued the night with drinks in an outdoor igloo. It was cozy, magical, and the kind of night you always remember. The next day, Mikayla told her best friend, “I’m going to marry him.”And she meant it. From that point on, everything just clicked. We started spending more time together and quickly realized—we had found our person. The time that followed was filled with travel, concerts, sporting events, and unforgettable adventures. We’ve laughed hard, lived fully, and grown stronger together through every season. Then came May 3, 2025.Tyler planned the most thoughtful proposal on Belle Isle in Detroit—the city that brought us together. He got down on one knee, and of course, Mikayla said yes! But that was just the beginning of the day. Tyler surprised her with a professional photographer, beach picnic, the arrival of both of our families (and Mikayla’s best friend all the way from Florida!), a romantic dinner overlooking the city skyline, and a beautiful hotel stay downtown. Every detail was so thoughtful. Now, we can’t wait to continue this incredible journey—and officially start our life together as husband and wife. What should I wear to the wedding?

The Ceremony &amp; Reception dress is formal attire, black tie optional. For men, suit &amp; tie preferred, but tie not required. For women, preferably long dresses. We would love for you to lean into the summer weather with fun colors (think pastels, bright/sunset colors, etc)! We are lively, outgoing people, and want our colors to reflect that fun! No need to go out and buy something new... well unless you're looking for an excuse to go shopping :) A classic black dress always looks great too! The Yacht Club does not allow denim. The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outside, while the reception will be inside - please look at the weather and plan accordingly. Below is some attire inspiration, but again, not required. We want you to feel your best and be able to shake it on the dance floor!

Northern Michigan is a popular summer destination, and August 28-30 will be busy! Accommodations will sell out fast if not booked early. We highly suggest booking arrangements ASAP once you know you're able to join us! You'll notice we have plenty of options to choose from! We hope you can find one that fits your needs - whether you're looking for an upscale lakeside stay, or in search of a budget friendly option. We also encourage you to check out Airbnbs &amp; VRBOs - if traveling with a group (family or friends), these can be the most cost effective (and fun!) accommodations. Please note that our shuttle will run to and from the Weathervane, however, there are several hotels in the area within walking distance - anyone is welcome to walk or drive to the Weathervane to hop on the shuttle. Charlevoix and Petoskey are the closest towns to our venue, both of which will immerse you in the small town charm that we love so much!

*Hotel best for: guests wanting a nostalgic place to stay only steps away from downtown Charlevoix but also close to Lake Michigan! This hotel is a bit older. There is a 2 night hotel minimum. Located on north shore of Round Lake harbor and the Pine River channel with prime drawbridge views, steps away from downtown Charlevoix. Each condo is owned by separate private owners and only booked through the Edgewater Inn (meaning, no room block or discount code available). Requires 2 night minimum. 2 room suites available - a great choice friends or family who want to share a condo. Reservations open Nov 2, 2025... FYI, they book fast! --&gt; Transportation: Weathervane Shuttle (short walk across the street) prices vary slightly based on availability due to individual rentals-1 room condo $359/night-2 room condo $575/night

Where to Stay

There is one regional airport within driving distance to Charlevoix - TVC. Other further airports have been listed for more flight options, but will require a rental car and further driving. If renting a car, make sure to secure a reservation prior to arriving. Both airports have car rental services available for guests. If not renting a car, we suggest using <a href="https://charlevoixtaxicabshuttleservice.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Charlevoix Taxi Cab Shuttle Service | Petoskey | Harbor Springs</a> for airport transportation.

*CHERRY CAPITAL AIRPORT (TVC)*

This airport is located in Traverse City, Michigan which is a 49 miles South of Charlevoix (1 hour drive). This location is the closest airport to the hotels and wedding venue.

Detroit Metro Airport (DTW)

Detroit is the largest airport in Michigan and will provide more flight options than the TVC regional airport. From here, you would need to rent a car and drive 4 hours North.

Bishop International Airport (FNT)

Flint will provide more flight options than the TVC regional airport. From here, you would need to rent a car and drive 3 hours North.

Gerald R Ford Intl Airport (GRR)

Grand Rapids will provide more flight options than the TVC regional airport. From here, you would need to rent a car and drive 3 hours North.

Travel Suggestions

Lake Charlevoix

Lake Charlevoix consists of the West Arm, East Arm, and the South Arm. The South Arm is the only part that is commonly referred to or mentioned as an “Arm”, whereas, the East Arm and West Arm are commonly referred to as the “main body” of Lake Charlevoix. Lake Charlevoix is Michigan’s third largest inland lake by area at 17,200 acres behind Houghton Lake at 20,075 acres (maximum 21ft deep) and Torch Lake at 18,722 acres (maximum 285ft deep). Lake Charlevoix has a max depth of 122ft on the main body and 58ft on the South Arm. Lake Charlevoix may be the third largest inland lake but it has a longer shoreline at 56 miles versus Torch Lake’s 40.8 miles and Houghton Lake’s 30 miles. You can easily spend the day cruising around Lake Charlevoix.If you're looking to rent a pontoon, tritoon, jetski, fishing boat, kayak, paddle board,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.summertime-rentals.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Summertime Rentals</a>&nbsp;has a plethora of options to choose from! They are located on the South Arm of Lake Charlevoix.

Downtown Charlevoix

Downtown Charlevoix’s small-town charm and boutique shopping has something for everyone. If you’re looking for a great book, specialty food items, Charlevoix memorabilia, new clothing, artwork, and sweet treats- you can find it here. Stop at Harwood Gold and walk the streets of downtown or to the Lighthouse! Downtown PETOSKEY

Downtown Petoskey is a small town with cute shops and restaurants. The town overlooks Little Traverse Bay which can be observed up close by walking down the pier (pictured below) to the lighthouse at the end of Solanus Mission Beach - short walk from downtown. Here you can jump off the end of the pier and enjoy lunch on the rocks.

Downtown Harbor Springs

Downtown Harbor Springs is Northern Michigan's version of Nantucket. With jaw dropping lakefront homes and boats that cost more than most homes, this preppy town is a fun day trip to watch sailboats come in while enjoying a cocktail on the beautiful Lake Michigan. The small town consists of only 2 streets but has great food and shops!

BEACHES

Charlevoix is located on the shores of Lake Charlevoix and Lake Michigan. There are multiple beaches and easy access to boat launches on these beautiful freshwater lakes. The beaches in Charlevoix are free, most are pet friendly and open to the public. Whether you’re looking for trails along Lake Michigan’s shoreline or a scenic inland trail, Charlevoix has some great options.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.visitcharlevoix.com/Mt-McSauba-Recreational-Area" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Mt. McSauba Recreation Area</a>,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.visitcharlevoix.com/Charles_Ransom_Nature_Preserve" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Charles Ransom Nature Preserve</a>, and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.visitcharlevoix.com/Fishermans-Island-State-Park-and-Beach" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Fisherman’s Island State Park</a>. All have amazing views of Lake Michigan.
